Insurance – Commercial Lines Solution Growth is not the same as being stretched on a rack.
Business growth is a bit like climbing a rock face: exciting when you’re stretched to the limit, and rewarding when you reach the next ledge. There you can rest and reorient. But in business, growth can be dizzying, especially when it comes by acquisition and each new product line requires its own unique process and technology toolbox.
The good news is you’re bigger! The bad news is you’re bigger.
The commercial lines division of a Fortune 100 insurance company was growing rapidly through innovation and acquisition. The quoting process worked well for captive agents but not for independent agents. The challenges were many: different processes, new technologies and an expanding geography. The company needed a way to integrate their different insurance technologies, harmonize quickly, and deliver new systems and processes for their independent agents.
Growth is only good news if you’re also evolving.
A technology services firm was brought in to consolidate the systems, chart a course for the web development process, and improve the insurance quoting tool for their independent agents. The vendor offered a web-enabled application, but it didn’t meet their needs, and had performance issues.
Fusion Alliance addressed the system’s shortcomings – poor performance, defects, product backlogs, scalability and application architecture flaws. At the same time, we addressed the complexities of integrating multiple builds and development streams with a new tool set. Daunting technically, but a solid interactive insurance solution would mean never having to revisit the situation.
Technology is only as valuable as the business solution it delivers.
The path forward would require a partnership strategy for the reworking, functional testing, performance testing, and launching of the solution, and our team made a significant contribution to the growth of the company and the maturity of the process and platform. Overall, the solution benefitted both independent agents and their clients.
Aligning business strategy with business technology solutions offered both employees and independent agents a consistent, stable user experience and a more holistic view of the business. This win-win ensured independent agents were empowered to better serve clients and this Fortune 100 insurance company was able to remain competitive in a dynamic market.
